Job description
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting Welding Engineers during development of Weld Procedures
Ability to apply Welding sequencing guidance.
Process selection to reduce distortion at each stage of construction
Provision of weld repair recommendations;
Support reduction of weld defects; and
Interpretation of weld defects.
Develop further existing fitting & welding processes and tools;
Assist with equipment specification and purchase;
Provision of practical support to ensure first time weld quality under the guidance of the Welding Engineering team.
Ensure compliance with contract documents and Class requirements;
Requirements
Skills and Experience:
The Welding Technician will have an excellent knowledge of FCAW and GTAW, with automatic and mechanized weld experience being desirable.
5+ years of shipbuilding or offshore experience.
Good computer literacy with the ability to use Word, Powerpoint and Excel.
Ability to Supervise Welders during development activities.
Good communication skill to communicate both with the shop floor staff and engineering team.
Knowledge of weld procedure development in accordance with Lloyds material rules.
Basic knowledge of NDE processes.
