Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Welding Engineers during development of Weld Procedures

  • Ability to apply Welding sequencing guidance.

  • Process selection to reduce distortion at each stage of construction

  • Provision of weld repair recommendations;

  • Support reduction of weld defects; and

  • Interpretation of weld defects.

  • Develop further existing fitting & welding processes and tools;

  • Assist with equipment specification and purchase;

  • Provision of practical support to ensure first time weld quality under the guidance of the Welding Engineering team.

  • Ensure compliance with contract documents and Class requirements;

Requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • The Welding Technician will have an excellent knowledge of FCAW and GTAW, with automatic and mechanized weld experience being desirable.

  • 5+ years of shipbuilding or offshore experience.

  • Good computer literacy with the ability to use Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

  • Ability to Supervise Welders during development activities.

  • Good communication skill to communicate both with the shop floor staff and engineering team.

  • Knowledge of weld procedure development in accordance with Lloyds material rules.

  • Basic knowledge of NDE processes.
