
About the Role
High school diploma
Proven work experience as a Truck Driver
Class A CDL or commercial driver's license
Traffic laws/ DOT regulations/ driving knowledge
Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc)
Must pass drug and alcohol test
Pallet jack experience required; forklift experience preferred
Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
Must have clean driving record
Ability to lift 80 pounds repeatedly throughout the day
Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc)
Listening and verbal communication skills
Requirements
Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers
Drive long distances to deliver goods to customers
Follow instructions; locate and read location and road maps
Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
Load and unload cargo
Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed
Document and log work/rest periods and kilometers spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
Report road incidents to the dispatcher
Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times
Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
Maintain a positive attitude to customers
Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
Keep commercial driver license up to date
